牧村朝子 ASAKO MAKIMURA


Asako MAKIMURA, also known as Makimu, is a writer, published author and lecturer specialized in gender, sexuality and LGBTs-issues. She was born on June 24, 1987 in Kanagawa (Japan). At 10 year-old, Makimu fell in love for the first time with a girl. However, it took her twelve years to accept her own feelings towards women. The central theme of her work is rooted in her personal experience : “Listen to what can’t be said but needs to be shared“. She has held lectures about Human rights for the Japanese Ministry of Justice, and had the honor of getting an interview with Mr.Gilbert Baker in NYC .
Besides these activities, she was also selected as a Miss Japan finalist in 2010. She loves sake, jazz, peacocks, fountain pens, the Taisho-Roman culture, steampunk, visual-kei, and the sea.
